Marketing & Sales Consultant · Financial Services & Banking

Justin Hill

Founder, Hill Marketing Solutions

I've spent 20+ years on both sides of the banking relationship.
That's your advantage.

Most vendors guess at how banks think. I know — because I've worked inside financial institutions and alongside the vendors who serve them. That dual perspective is the foundation of everything I do.

I've sat at both ends of this table.

Hill Marketing Solutions was founded by Justin Hill, a marketing and strategy consultant whose career has been spent entirely inside the financial services ecosystem — first as a banker, then as a senior leader at one of the industry's most respected credit risk consulting firms.

Justin began his career working inside financial institutions — including Washington Mutual and Sovereign Bank — in branch management and commercial lending, learning firsthand how banks think, operate, and make decisions at every level. That foundation is irreplaceable and informs everything he does.

He has since spent nearly two decades as a senior leader at CEIS Review, an independent commercial loan review firm, functioning as its chief revenue officer — working directly with executive management and board members at banks and credit unions across the country on their most complex credit, portfolio, and regulatory challenges. He also personally oversees the firm's vendor due diligence program and SOC compliance initiatives — giving him a direct, practitioner-level understanding of exactly what regulated institutions require from their vendors.

That combination — banker turned advisor turned marketer — is what makes Hill Marketing Solutions different. Your strategy isn't built on assumptions about how banks think. It's built on direct, practitioner-level knowledge of how they actually decide.

Justin is also available for speaking engagements at banking conferences, industry panels, association events, and private offsites — bringing practitioner-level insight to conversations about marketing to regulated financial institutions, vendor due diligence, and the evolving community banking landscape.

Earning the Relationship

An Insider's Guide to Marketing and Selling to Banks and Credit Unions

Most vendors approach banks and credit unions the wrong way — leading with features, chasing the wrong contacts, and losing deals they should have won. Earning the Relationship is the definitive playbook for B2B vendors who want to break through to regulated financial institutions and build the kind of trust that drives long-term revenue.

Built around The Three Gates framework — Visibility, Access, and Approval — the book walks vendors through every stage of the banking sales cycle, with strategies drawn from two decades of practitioner experience on both sides of the table.

An Insider's Guide to Marketing
and Selling to Banks & Credit Unions

Visibility · Access · Approval

The Challenge

Regulated institutions operate by a different set of rules — and most vendors never figure that out.

Long, Complex Sales Cycles

Community banks and credit unions involve multiple stakeholders, board approvals, and regulatory scrutiny. Generic B2B playbooks fall apart at the first touchpoint.

Trust Before Transaction

Bankers don't buy from vendors they don't know. Relationship capital isn't built with ad spend — it's built through demonstrated expertise and patient, value-first outreach.

Compliance-First Culture

Risk, compliance, and due diligence aren't afterthoughts — they're gatekeepers. Your messaging must speak that language fluently before you earn a meeting.

Inside Access Matters

The vendors who win consistently know how decisions actually get made — not just the org chart, but the culture, the concerns, and the timing that moves institutions to act.

How I Help

Strategy that earns the relationship — then closes the deal.

Practical, deeply experienced consulting grounded in how regulated institutions actually make buying decisions.
